Uncanny Valley

The "uncanny valley" is a phenomenon where something that appears almost human, but not quite, triggers a sense of unease, discomfort, or even revulsion in viewers. This "valley" exists in the curve of human-like appearance versus perceived affinity, where the perceived affinity dips when an object or character is close to human but not perfectly so.
