A social media platform that tapped into a user experience that resonated with people beyond what they could do with Twitter or Facebook at the time. Facebook Inc (now Meta) was scared of what they were becoming and bought them for an obscene amount of money. They have also become a convenient platform, from which to launch the new reel experience, which was made famous by TikTok.
